at Valley Baptist Church
Since December 1990 Larry has been pastor of Valley Baptist Church in Castro Valley where, in 1971, he was saved and baptized. It is there he met his wife Donna, they were married in 1973.
The young couple moved to Southern California. There Larry attended California Baptist University with a double major, graduating in 1977, he received degrees in both Religion and Behavioral Science. From there he went on to attend California State University at Fullerton receiving a Masters degree in Counseling & Psychology.
Then it was on to Golden Gate Theological Seminary, where he attended a branch campus in Garden Grove California. A youth ministry followed at La Sierra Baptist Church in Riverside as well as serving for five years as pastor at FSB Church of Glen Avon. Later he went on to pastor FSB Church in Palm Springs.
During intervals between pastoral assignments Larry returned to school obtaining teaching credentials. He's been teaching in the Tracy Unified School District since 1989, adding an Administration Credential a few years later.
Since 1989 Larry has remained an east bay resident. In addition to pastoring Valley Baptist and teaching elementary school, he and his wife Donna were moved to share their loving home with two foster children along with raising their four daughters. His beloved wife, and lifelong best friend, Donna passed away in 2006 of cancer. But God has been good and merciful to all the family even in that sadness.
With the family now raised, Larry remains a very busy person, still teaching, pastoring, and leading small groups. His passionate enthusiasm for his relationship with God, his ministry, and leading his church in the study and discovery of the Word of God, remains strong, vibrant and fresh.
